Description
Metal badge with the letters 'VAD' in gold on a white scroll and the words 'The British Red Cross Society' in gold on red around a central white circle containing a red cross. A gold crown sits on top of the badge and the badge is attached to clothing by a safety pin on the back. Mrs Brown was a state registered nurse working at Borradaile Trust a couple of evenings a month giving out suppers and tablets. She also worked at a Clinic in the African Township of Dombo-Timbo where whe helped out with dressings in the outpatients department. Mrs Brown believes that this work was with the Red Cross.
