Description
Patchwork quilt on pink backing, with label 'Gift of Canadian Red Cross Society, Preston, Ontario Branch. With card: 'This patchwork quilt was made for "bombed-out" victims of the London Blitz 1939-45 by the ladies of the Canadian Red Cross. My family acquired this quilt from Fulham SW6 - Councils - after experiencing the above situation during the period 1942-3 - one of the hundreds - no doubt shipped over during the dark days - EDWIN HORNE late of Fulham W6'. Quilt is comprised of 'crazy' blocks around a central circle, made using dressmaking scraps, probably by a group.
