Uniting Communities Org (UCO) is a youth organisation based in the North West of England. During their time on EmpowHER, they took part in a range of social action projects, including hosting a 999 Awareness Day. This annual event is an opportunity for the emergency services and organisations to educate the public. The EmpowHER group spent the day helping the British Red Cross’ Emergency Response Team. Ahead of the event, they researched what the British Red Cross does in an emergency and then made a quiz to test the public. The girls interacted with the children who attended the event and distributed pens and badges to raise awareness.
